“But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to son ship.” Galatians 4:4-5 (NIV)
Time is an interesting thing: some days there is not enough, some days there is too much. It is our way of measuring the succession of events. As Paul reflects on that, he reminds us, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that at just the right time, the perfect time, at the preordained time, God sent His Son. There was an organized and relatively peaceful political structure in place around the then known world. There was a common language amongst these people groups. A system of well-constructed roads were in place to travel on. There was a growing hunger for spiritual values to trust in. In God’s providence, the time was ideal for Jesus to come and minister to us. Thank God for His perfect time, His perfect Son and His perfect message.
Prayer: Thank you God for sending your Son into our world to give us forgiveness, hope and love. Thank you for your perfect timing which is always the right time. Help us this Christmas to trust in your timing even when sometimes we do not understand it. Give us the patience and faith to have that dependence on you. We love you – thank you for being there for us, at just the right time. In Jesus' name - Amen.
